Applications
Materials matched to real production use
Norvanta 3D PLA-based compounds and polymer blends are offered for filament extrusion and industrial end-use work. Each application below is a starting point; final suitability depends on your process and requirements.
Where our materials are used
Three application sectors
Each sector pairs a material family with the operational context it is typically evaluated for.
Filament extrusion
High-speed FDM filament manufacturing
PLA pellets and compounds offered for filament extrusion lines. Thermal stability and consistent melt behavior are central to evaluating a grade for your equipment.
Functional parts
Industrial functional prototyping
Balanced toughness and stiffness profiles are relevant when a prototype must behave closer to an end-use part. Confirm specific values with our team against your test conditions.
Packaging
Specialty packaging and thermoforming
PLA/PBAT compound grades are considered for sustainable packaging and thermoforming applications. Compatibility depends on your forming equipment and end-use requirements.
Processing guidance
General guidance for processing
Drying conditions, temperature zones, and extrusion settings depend on the specific grade, your equipment, and your process. The notes below are general orientation, not guarantees of equipment performance. PLA-based materials are moisture-sensitive, so drying before processing is a common practice. Keep material sealed until use and follow the handling guidance supplied with each grade.
Temperature zones should be set against your extruder design and the grade's technical data sheet. Talc-filled blends and PLA/PBAT compounds may respond differently from standard PLA, so trial runs under your own conditions are recommended. For a confirmed processing window for a specific grade, request the technical data sheet through our team and share your equipment details.
